In the world of fashion blogging, Erika from Fashion Chalet is one of your go-to girls when you want to see real style. She’s gorgeous with a talent for styling, and the best part about her is her sweetheart down to earth personality that just happens to be impeccably dressed. We are really happy to have Erika as our first featured interview on whatisrealityanyway.com! If her site isn't already in your bookmarks, it is time for an update. Read on to find out what you have always wanted to know about the imagination behind Fashion Chalet.
What is reality anyway? Reality to me is being true to yourself, not the trend and not others' expectations except those of your own. Being yourself and comfortable in your own skin. That is true reality.
What is your secret guilty pleasure? Eating fruit salads before bed while watching Sex and The City on DVD. That- and buying shoes...all of the time.
What thing, concept, philosophy, or idea do you wish someone had told you when you were younger? That whatever anybody else may or may not be thinking about you, what matters the most is if you are happy with the life you are living and leading.
What has been your biggest influence? Strong character. Strong women. Audrey Hepburn. Being able to get through the tough parts of life and getting to the happier moments; the greener pastures. Namely my Mother. She inspires me to be a better woman and to take pride in who I am. To believe in myself.
What silly thing are you scared of? Cockroaches. Frogs. And I will literally jump out of a moving car if somebody were to vomit near me. I am deathly afraid of vomit. Silly as it may sound, I am afraid of all three.
What's the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Stretch my legs out as long as they can go, and then get back under the warm covers for just a few minutes more.
Who would you want to play you in the movie about your life? That's a tough question. I'd rather be surprised.
Fill in the blank: Flaws are: embraceable.
What is your favorite quote/motto/mantra? "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Churchill
The most life-changing book I have ever read was: Influence by the Olsen’s. They opened my eyes on how the other side, the creative think, create and live.
My secret, or hate-to-admit crush is: Edward Norton. Something about those eyes and voice.
My three favorite, can't live without them pieces of clothing or accessories are:
1. My nameplate bracelet
2. AA grey raglan 3/4 sleeved top
3. Ankle booties
My personal hero/idol is: 3. My Mom. Carrie Bradshaw and Audrey Hepburn.
After my last relationship I felt bored.
My top three favorite bands/groups/singers are
1. The Postal Service
2. Muse
3. Devendra Banhart
If I could suddenly inherit anyone's closet, I would choose: Too many… hello! Carrie Bradshaw or the French Vogue editors' And how about Jen Brill's!??
My go-to karaoke song is: anything by Britney haha.
It really pisses me off when: People talk loudly on their cell phones (inside).
I am never more happy when I am: PMS'ing. Who is though???
How tall are you? 5'6"
How many languages do you speak? Which? 3. English, Spanish and a but of French.
When I get dressed, I'm usually thinking I really want to wear "this" item, now with what?
Where were you born? Miami.
What's the worst fashion crime one could possibly commit? Denim on denim (especially in the same wash. ARGH!) Only a select few can pull off denim on denim.
My favorite TV show is: Sex and the City.
I really wish Jessica Alba would fall off the face of the earth.
My favorite website is thefashionspot.com/forums.
My favorite store to shop at is vintage.
My favorite food is pasta and salad.
Love is conquering.
