Summer is officially here: I'm currently enjoying a little home-for-summer vacation, and loving every second. Today I worked in my very-neglected garden all afternoon, and ordered pizza -- my idea of California Zen.

My college creative writing teacher turned mentor turned big sister and best friend Maria Garcia Teutsch has published over 20 books of poetry as editor-in-chief of the Homestead Review literary journal at Hartnell College, and Ping-Pong magazine, from the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur. Aside from being the best teacher I ever had, her poetry has also been widely published throughout the states and in the U.K. Her chapbook, the limited edition "Pussy" is out now. She is currently splitting her time between the U.S., and Malaysia, but I get her back in L.A. June 2nd for her poetry reading.
